Below you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked the most about our IT disposal services.

What Is IT Asset Disposal?

IT Asset Disposal is actually Information Technology Asset Disposal. We remove IT equipment which has become surplus to requirements – possibly broken or outdated, or simply no longer needed. The equipment is removed responsibly and is either recycled or reused. We also adhere to strict data security compliance and uphold uncompromising environmental protection.

What Are the Costs Involved?

In many cases, we are able to provide this service free of charge, as much of the equipment will have a residual value, against which we can offset our processing costs. However, in the event that the equipment you wish to recycle does not cover our processing costs, a quote will be provided prior to collection.

If I Make a Booking, How Quickly Can You Collect?

Our collection services operate 5 days a week so we can collect at your convenience. We would usually suggest collection takes place within 5 days of the initial contact, as this can help to mitigate against data breaches at your end. If you require us to collect out of standard hours, this can also be arranged.

What is WEEE and the WEEE Directive?

WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment and covers a huge range of devices – essentially most things which are powered by a battery or a plug.

Today, the amount of WEEE waste being generated in the UK is increasing rapidly. In fact, according to the Environment Agency, WEEE Waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK – as much as 2 million tonnes of WEEE items are discarded by households, businesses and organisations each year.

In 2007, the WEEE Directive became legislation. This directive aims to contribute to sustainable production and consumption in a number of ways:

To prevent the creation of WEEE as a first priority – to reduce the amount of WEEE being disposed of in landfill (either in the UK or overseas).

The site is also monitored 365 days a year, 24 hours a day by an external security company.

All members of staff are thoroughly vetted and subsequently, security cleared. This is an ongoing process.

How Do You Protect My Data?

Not only are we committed to protecting your data, but we are also fully accredited. We use data sanitisation practices which have been approved by the National Cyber Security Centre.

What’s more, it’s backed by a detailed audit as well as certificates of destruction. Our comprehensive secure data wiping process ensures that all data is irretrievable, using market-leading software from WipeDrive.

Once all data has been erased, you will receive data destruction and duty of care certificates, in line with GDPR.

What Security Measures Do You Have in Place for Your Logistics Services?

We apply the same level of security to our logistics services as we do to all other areas of our business. Below is a full breakdown of the security measures in place for our logistics services:

    Our entire fleet operates CCTV.

Each vehicle is satellite tracked allowing our logistics team to see its location in real time.

We have enhanced DBS checks for all our drivers.

Each vehicle is equipped with upgraded security, both mechanical and electrical.

All of our vehicles are solid sided.

To prevent imposters collecting your equipment, all our operatives carry photo ID, details of which will be conveyed to you prior to collection. Details of the van and the registration number are also provided. And each collection is given a unique collection code which your collection operative will quote on arrival at your site.

The audit trail starts the moment we arrive at your site, as all equipment is asset tagged on loading.

All equipment is not only returned to our facility, but also unloaded on the same day as the collection, whatever the time of day.

No equipment is ever left overnight in our vehicles.

    How Secure Are the Premises?

Asset Disposal operate from a secure site with security fencing around the perimeter, secure gated areas and secure office space, all of which only fully authorised members of staff can enter.

The site is also monitored 365 days a year, 24 hours a day by an external security company.

All members of staff are thoroughly vetted and subsequently, security cleared. This is an ongoing process.
